Do I need a licensed guide to trek in Nepal in 2026/2027?
Yes. Under official regulations enforced by the Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) and TAAN, solo independent trekking is prohibited across all national parks and conservation areas. Trekkers must trek with a licensed guide provided by a government-registered trekking agency like Best Treks Nepal.
What permits are required for Restricted Areas (Mustang, Manaslu, Dolpo)?
Restricted areas require special Restricted Area Permits (RAP) issued by the Department of Immigration. They require a minimum of 2 trekkers and a certified guide. For Upper Mustang, the fee is $500 USD for the first 10 days; Manaslu is $100 USD/week (Autumn) or $75 USD/week (Spring). All permit processing is fully handled by our team.

How do you prevent Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS)?
We follow strict UIAA and Himalayan Rescue Association (HRA) acclimatization guidelines: gradual elevation gains (under 400-500m net sleeping ascent per day above 3,000m), built-in rest and acclimatization days at Namche Bazaar / Dingboche / Manang, 3-4 liters of hydration daily, and daily pulse oximeter monitoring by our Lead Sherpa.
What type of travel insurance is mandatory?
Your travel insurance policy must explicitly cover high-altitude trekking up to the maximum elevation of your trip (e.g. 5,500m for EBC / Kala Patthar; 5,416m for Thorong La) including emergency helicopter evacuation and inpatient hospitalization.

What are tea house accommodations like?
Tea houses are family-run mountain lodges. Rooms are twin-share with wooden beds, clean mattresses, pillows, and blankets. Attached bathrooms are available in lower valleys (Lukla, Namche, Pokhara), transitioning to shared facilities higher up. Dining halls are warmed by central stoves in the evenings.
What meals are provided on the trek?
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are included on all our guided packages. You choose from hearty tea house menus including Dal Bhat (rice, lentil soup, curry - unlimited refills), Sherpa noodle soup (Thukpa), Momos, pasta, oatmeal, eggs, toast, and hot herbal teas.

When is the best time of year to trek in Nepal?
The two prime trekking windows are Autumn (September to November) for crystal-clear mountain panoramas and dry conditions, and Spring (March to May) for blooming rhododendron forests and warmer temperatures. Upper Mustang and Upper Dolpo are also exceptional in summer (June to August) as rain-shadow zones.

How much deposit is required to secure my trek?
A 15% deposit confirms your booking, flight reservations, and permit clearances. The remaining 85% balance is conveniently payable upon arrival at our Kathmandu headquarters via credit card or cash (USD/EUR/GBP/NPR).
